It’s been awhile since I’ve had a chance to do paper crafts, but holiday cards are the perfect excuse to get back to it. My supplies come from a variety of sources – craft and paper stores and even holiday catalogs. I love re-purposing junk mail into crafty projects! Check out some of the Christmas cards I made this week:
The tree stamp is from the dollar bin at Michael’s – score! I love this tag cut-out, too. I originally bought it to attach tags to gifts and baked goods, but I tinted the edges of the tag with silver ink to make it pop a bit here. I used puffy sticker squares to mount the tag and some sweet multi-colored yarn to accent it.
Yay for the $1 stamp, again! I stamped trees all over this card in varying shades of green, then subtly decorated a couple in each row and gave one a big glittery star.
This one is on pale blue paper with a silver embossed message and mounted snowflakes. I’ve had these snowflake stamps for a couple of years now, but I think this is the best use of them so far. I really like the silver embossing (using both silver ink and silver embossing powder for a little deeper color).
I loved this pine branch stamp when I found it! As I may have mentioned before, in college I worked summers at a family camp up in the woods. Spending three months at a time in the forest instilled in me a deep love for the woods and woodsy things, like this stamp! (Or, say, this awesome smelling hand soap – my favorite!) I just used a flat white card to showcase the stamp and inked it with small green and brown stamp pads. (I like using Cat’s Eye stamps, because they’re great for ‘painting’ ink onto stamps.) Simple and wintry – or summery, if you’re a former camp counselor like me. :)
I finished up my card-making by lining the envelopes with pretty pages from catalogs, including the Jackson & Perkin’s holiday flowers catalog. Free and festive!
