Mystery Meat

I went to a lovely little Greek restaurant the other day which, given the location and occasion, I won’t bother to review here except to give a bit of a public service announcement. People, mystery meat in all its forms is unacceptable. It was not okay back in the grade school cafeteria and it’s not okay now. No matter how you try to dress it up – by calling it a “unique blend of lamb and beef” – it’s still no good. Said “unique blend of lamb and beef” did not compare in any way, shape, or form, to the other delightful dishes that were served at this restaurant, so I really don’t understand what they were going for with the item. I’ve had gyros before, this was no gyro. The only positive note in mystery meat was the fun that was had in trying to name it. Leef. Bleef. Blam was the favorite of the evening. Word to the wise: never order anything openly acknowledged as “unique” or “interesting” on the menu.
